Trump Returns To White House, Signs 80 Orders Including To Exit Paris Pact

Trump Returns To White House, Signs 80 Orders Including To Exit Paris Pact

Donald Trump wasted no time in enacting his agenda as the 47th President of the United States, signing a record number of executive orders within hours of taking the oath of office. Addressing a massive crowd and delivering two speeches—one at his inauguration and another after the presidential parade—Trump outlined sweeping changes aimed at reversing key policies of the Biden administration.

In his inaugural speech, Trump declared his intent to restore what he termed “American greatness” through bold, immediate actions. Among the first 80 executive orders signed, Trump focused on declaring a national emergency at the US-Mexico border, deploying troops, and initiating the deportation of millions of undocumented immigrants. "All illegal entry will stop immediately," he said, to roaring applause.

Another major focus was energy production. Declaring a "national energy emergency," Trump lifted restrictions on fossil fuel mining and drilling. "America will once again be the world’s manufacturing powerhouse, powered by our vast oil and gas reserves," he asserted, signaling a rollback of green energy policies.

Trump’s orders also addressed free speech, reversing alleged federal censorship. Accusing the previous administration of suppressing voices online, he vowed to "restore freedom of speech for all Americans." He also controversially announced that federal recognition would be limited to two genders—male and female—and initiated steps to rename the Gulf of Mexico as the “Gulf of America.”

In a symbolic move, Trump pardoned over 1,500 individuals involved in the January 6 Capitol riots, framing it as an act of “national healing.” Additionally, he signed orders to end remote work for federal employees, halt the shift to electric vehicles, and implement measures to combat inflation.

Sworn in by Chief Justice John Roberts, Trump promised to act with "unprecedented speed and strength," setting a bold tone for his presidency.
