Neeraj Chopra secured a silver medal in the javelin throw at the Paris 2024 Olympics with a season-best throw of 89.45 meters, early on Friday morning. Pakistan's Arshad Nadeem outperformed the competition, setting a new Olympic record of 92.97 meters to win the gold, becoming Pakistan's first individual Olympic gold medalist. Nadeem’s throw surpassed the previous Olympic record of 90.57 meters, set by Norway's Andreas Thorkildsen at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

Grenada's Anderson Peters claimed the bronze with a throw of 88.54 meters.

Neeraj Chopra, who won gold at the Tokyo Summer Games three years ago, demonstrated his strong form earlier in the competition by recording an impressive throw of 89.34 meters in the men's javelin throw qualification round on Tuesday in Group B. Despite his excellent performance, Chopra was edged out by Nadeem's record-breaking throw.

This event marks a historic achievement for both athletes, with Nadeem’s victory bringing pride to Pakistan and Chopra continuing to demonstrate his consistency at the highest level of the sport.
