IAF Precision Strikes Cripple Key Pakistani Air Bases

IAF Precision Strikes Cripple Key Pakistani Air Bases

In a decisive retaliatory move early Saturday, Indian Air Force fighter jets launched precision strikes on major Pakistani airbases, including Rafiqui, Murid, and Chaklala, following a wave of drone and missile attacks by Pakistan targeting Indian civilian and military installations.

At a government briefing, Wing Commander Vyomika Singh confirmed that India’s strikes were limited strictly to military targets. “Our aircraft engaged enemy installations at Rafiqui, Murid, Chaklala, Rahim Yar Khan, Sukkur, and Chunian using precision air-launched weapons. Radar facilities at Pasrur and the Sialkot aviation base were also neutralised with minimal collateral damage,” she stated.

The objective, officials said, was to degrade Pakistan’s capability to carry out aerial operations, including drone surveillance and long-range strikes.

Nur Khan Air Base, formerly Chaklala, located in Rawalpindi, is a central command hub for Pakistan's aerial mobility and home to its Air Mobility Command. Intelligence suggests this base played a critical role in coordinating drone and missile strikes against India. India believes the base’s Saab 2000 AEW&C aircraft helped guide recent attacks.

Rafiqui Air Base, in Punjab province, houses squadrons of Mirage and JF-17 fighter jets and serves as a key training and operational centre for western sector missions. India’s targeting of this base was intended to disrupt Pakistan’s frontline strike capabilities.

Murid Air Base, also in Punjab, is considered the headquarters of Pakistan’s drone command. It hosts Turkish-origin Bayraktar TB2 and Akinci drones, alongside indigenous Shahpar-I UAVs. Hundreds of drones, both surveillance and armed, had been launched from here in recent days.

Wing Commander Singh reiterated India’s intent to avoid further escalation. “The Indian armed forces remain prepared and will continue to respond decisively to hostile acts, while maintaining a commitment to proportionality and non-escalation,” she said.
